Electronic modification
"I have something working good, but I want to add some extra features. Is it possible?" It will depend on how the unit is designed, available documentation, remaining room inside the enclosure to fit extra parts and modification cost verses a brand new design. Most of the time, we will be able to fit a brand new design in the previous cabinet and use some parts of the original one. "We want to improve a section of a device which often fails. Is it possible?" Often to reduce design time, keep pricing down and respect the warranty period, big companies choose parts to do the job but, NOT MUCH MORE! It’s a common problem and seems to be more popular in newer electronics. In many cases we can improve it. "Is it possible to change the normal use of something?" Use an old rotary dial telephone to open/close a garage door? An old computer to control your gardening equipment? A multimeter to display ambient temperature? A pager to start your coffee maker...
